Andrea Tavchar, PhD
Academic Coordinator - Certificate in Public Relations @Toronto Metropolitan University
My love of writing led me to a career in communications, where I spent 14 years in advertising, government public affairs, and public relations, working for The Region of Peel, YTV, MTV, and StarChoice Television. I've been a Professor and Thesis Advisor in Humber College's Faculty of Media and Creative Arts for the past 20 years, during which time I earned an MA and PhD. I specialize in teaching social media, strategic communication planning, writing, communication theory, public affairs, and emerging PR issues. My other activities include being an active member of the Canadian Public Relations Society, speaking at academic and industry conferences as well as delivering a TEDx Talk. During the pandemic, I started a podcast, PR Delivered where I interview industry practitioners on topics that interest my students.
